Liam Robertson’s hitting abilities were the highlight of the First Grade match during round 1 of the McDonald’s NSW Premier Cricket competition for 2017-18. Robbo belted 102 runs from 84 balls as he led the side to a total of 5-297 and a win for the defending premiers.
Liam debuted with Sydney Uni Cricket Club in 2006 and has now scored 4653 runs with an average of 27.05, with a highest score of 193. Liam is now within sight of becoming the 23rd Sydney Uni cricketer to score 5000 runs for the Club (though he will likely be the 24th with Ben Larkin only 10 runs from that mark).
Congratulations Liam on claiming the opening Surjit’s Player of the Round Award for 2017-18.
Jono Craig-Dobson has proved himself as a perennial clubman leading into the first round of the 2017-18 season. Jono has been the driving force of training sessions during the absence of Gary and the Red Bull squad who recently competed in Sri Lanka. Special mention also goes to Jono’s mother, Catherine, who regularly volunteers as scorer for Jono’s teams. Jono has been described as an unheralded clubman by his fellow teammates.
