Ed Cowan’s brilliant 51 not out (from 32 balls) for New South Wales against Tasmania in the JLT Cup in Perth was the 26th time he has reached a half-century in List A matches (including four centuries).
Tim Ley destroyed Blacktown’s first innings with 6-18, his best bowling figures in First Grade and the seventh time he has taken five wickets in a First Grade innings. When he dismissed Gabriel Joseph in the second innings, he joined former NSW leg-spinner Walter Stack as the joint fifth-highest wicket-taker for Sydney University in First Grade (on 269).
Ed Arnott’s match-winning 86 against Blacktown was his highest score (and first half-century) in Second Grade. He shared vital partnerships with two other players who posted their best Second Grade scores: Jono Craig-Dobson (36) and Liam Whitaker (24 not out).
Lewis Bedford, in only his second match for Sydney University, hit his first half-century for the club, 93 in Third Grade against Blacktown.
In Fourth Grade’s rout of Blacktown, Billy Barge (4-16) and Oliver Thompson (4-29) each returned his best bowling figures for the club.
Shehan Canagasingham took 5-28 against Blacktown, which was his eighth five-wicket return for the club, but his first in Fifth Grade.
Metropolitan Cup’s tight victory over Penrith was assisted by a first half-century for the club from Brahmam Chunduri (64) and Jazz Rinka’s best return with the ball (3-29).
